The very oldest memory in the deepest depths of your brain?
It’s actually really hard to figure out. There’s probably about 4-5 memories that stand out as being super old but it’s almost impossible to determine which one is the real earliest memory
The one that stands out the most to me though was my first day at kindergarten
I don’t remember anything at all about the few hours I spent there
I only remember getting dropped off
Up until this world-shattering day the only times I had been left with people other than my parents, were with other family, people that I already knew very well (grandparents, aunties & uncles etc.)
So there I was walking down the path to this kindergarten holding my mums hand happy as the damn sunshine
We go through the front gate and I get shown around the place and see all the other kids and meet the lovely teachers
And then me and mum walk back out towards the front gate… except this time my mum tells me that I need to stay with the teacher, and that she has to go
I didn’t quite understand what was going on or why. This had never happened before.
But the most vivid part of this memory is me literally having a mental breakdown and crying my eyes out watching my mum walk away wondering why my mum was leaving me there and why I couldn’t go with her
I just couldn’t understand
And I actually told my mum this memory recently and she said she remembers the exact same day, and that she was a crying mess the rest of the morning too
(guess it was hard for both of us)
But the thing is, I would have been at least 3 or 4 years old at this time
And I literally can’t think of any memory I have that I can say for certain was earlier than that
Even though before I could walk apparently my older brother of 2 years used to stomp on my head as I was lying around on the floor when my parents weren’t looking
You would think that would be a pretty significant thing that I would remember
And yet… nothing
(don’t worry my brother doesn’t stomp on my head anymore)
And it seems to be the same for most people
Anything before the age of 2 years old there’s literally no recall-able memories
Isn’t that weird?
And does that mean you get a free-pass to go around pulling the fingers at all the babies you see?
My psychology background tells me that it probably isn’t a good idea because sub-conscious trauma is still a thing (just because you don’t remember something doesn’t mean it won’t influence you)
And in addition to that my ‘decent human being radar’ also urges you to reconsider if you do have the weird urge to rip the fingers at random babies
Probably not the best look
But what has any of this got to do with fitness and burning fat and building muscle?
Well, way too many people are approaching their fitness goals as if it’s okay to rip the fingers at their 1 year old and make fun of their baby for not being able to walk yet
Because yeah you can justify doing that when there’s no chance of her ever remembering it happened. But you might regret it in 6 months time when your baby starts ripping the fingers back at you too
The reality in 6 months time is ONLY the result of the actions you’ve taken over those 6 months
And it’s way too easy to justify not putting in the work towards getting that body you want because of all the (very legitimate) things going on
(and I too struggle with this all the time)
But at the end of the day…
In 6 months time the ONLY thing that matters is the actions you took
The times you did workout
The times you did make an effort with your nutrition
Because even the most legitimate and understandablereasonswhy you “can’t” do it… won’t get you ANY results
ONLY action will get you results
And if it’s getting stronger, more toned and way more confident in your body that you’re after
(without doing any stupid diets or hours and hours of cardio)
Then maybe Valkyrie Fitness is the action you need to be taking
And if you think it might be, then feel free to get yourself a zero obligation 1 week trial

(which I know you do)
And just wish you could get more free stuff
Then you’ll be please to know that I have a snapchat account
Where I mostly do short videos on my story with the food I’m eating, random tips, and sometimes suspenseful life sagas (like a couple days ago where I almost burnt my house down for 3 pieces of chicken)
So if you’re interested in that kind of thing
Hey you, did you like that?
Why not share it with someone who would enjoy it too?
